Vegan Fashion Brand Gives Back to Open Arms Mission

As part of our effort to give back, throughout 2015 we’ll feature one of our favorite charitable organizations each month on our blog. For the duration of the month, we’ll donate $1 for every new Facebook like we receive to that group.

Check out March’s featured organization below—and check back each month to see which groups are doing work we love and want to support. If you have a suggestion for a charity we should know about, please email us at info@lookielou.com.

March Featured Charitable Organization

One of the largest food pantries in Lake County, Illinois, Open Arms Mission has been providing assistance to individuals in need since 2000. One in 10 Illinois residents are food insecure, and Open Arms seeks to help anyone who turns to the non-profit organization for food and services.

Relying on donations from local churches, schools, businesses, civic organizations, corporate partners, grants, and individual giving, Open Arms Mission has helped more than 225,000 individuals since its inception. In 2009, the organization distributed 612,624 pounds of food.

Open Arms assists about 200 families each week, with approximately 30 new families seeking assistance every month. Almost half (46%) of those individuals are children under the age of 18.

Currently, Open Arms is experiencing shortages in its food supply due to a number of factors, including the rise in demand. We at Lookie Lou want to help this local organization feed our hungry neighbors—and we need your help!

Please assist us in our effort to give back to Open Arms this month by liking our Facebook page and spreading the word to your friends! We’ll be donating $1 for every new Facebook like we get through March 31 to this charity. And here’s why each “like” matters: For every $1 received, Open Arms can provide 11 pounds of food to a family in need!

Thank you for your help in supporting this local organization serving our community.
